If you love newspaper comic strips, you’ll want to support a feature-length documentary now in production. Dave Kellett & Fred Schroeder are the creators of the comics documentary STRIPPED. Kellett is the creator of the online comic strip Sheldon. Schroeder is an independent filmmaker. They are bringing together sixty of the world’s best cartoonists to talk about how cartooning works, why it’s so loved, and how as artists they’re navigating this dicey period between print and digital options.
They are using Kickstarter to accept donations to help them complete the film. A $25 donation will get you a DVD of the completed film, expected early in 2012. The funds that they receive will go towards adding closed captioning, better animation, better sound, and travel to interview additional artists.
